Nature
In Greenport Venlo’s 5.400 acres area, the outlines of the existing landscape and the qualities of stream valleys and higher parts are maintained and even strengthened. Within this area, new nature is harmoniously planted. Several common features congregate in this, such as the incorporation of industry clusters, water balance and water purification and recreational access. A new to be constructed wildlife crossing and wildlife tunnels make sure that the fauna can cross the Greenportlane. The planting is based on the historic moorland in the area: oaks, birch and sparse vegetation with heather, juniper and broom. This brings back a part of the old landscape from before 1900. Within four years, approximately 150 acres will be designed as nature. This equals about 75 football fields per year!
The current fragmented land use will get more natural unity by the definition in clusters of activity. The new to be developed landscape thus offers an attractive setting for new forms of space utilization.
